Mission

To enable a thriving data economy, the European Commission has issued a series of strategy papers and regulations that emphasize data access neutrality, portability, interoperability, and the avoidance of lockIn effects. In order to reach these ambitious goals, It proposes the establishment of common European Data Spaces following FAIR data principles, ensuring findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability, while prioritizing cybersecurity.

Building a Data Space is not an easy task, requiring trusted partners to lead the way. EVIDEN, as recognized leader EU and worldwide in cybersecurity, sovereignty and trust aims at playing a pivotal role in Data Spaces, both as drivers for secure technology to be used and also as catalyzer for new AI-powered services using Data Space unlocked data sets.

Vision

We aim at building a trusted, sovereign, secure and interoperable framework for Data Spaces, being able to be deployed in different verticals and with the ambition to be aligned with the multiple references and requirements as defined by the industry leaders, including IDSA and Gaia-X.

In order to do so, the technology and research will follow the pillars mentioned below:

  • Strong and enforceable data protection regulations to safeguard individuals' privacy
  • A decentralized and distributed infrastructure
  • Development of secure and efficient data-sharing technologies
  • Education and resources for individuals and organizations to understand and exercise their data rights
  • Greater focus on the social and ethical implications of data-driven decision making

Value

DIDI is the asset employed by the Data Space team. DIDI is an operational, trusted, sovereign and interoperable Data Space, combining EVIDEN’s capabilities both in Data gathering, processing and securing with the new needs for Data sharing as drafted by the European Commission on the EU Data Strategy

It is based on open standards/APIs to support interoperability, modularity, scalability, and, therefore, pave the way towards an inclusive energy ecosystem. Main challenges are:

  • Adoption of standard rules of data/service federation so as to have a Gaia-X and IDSA compliant framework
  • Investigation on common/horizontal data sharing services, enabling the identification, harmonization and monitoring of data sharing, in alignment with Gaia-X and IDSA requirements
  • Connection to data and service marketplaces to provide advanced features solving concrete business use case needs
