GRIDS will support and simplify the online onboarding of individual and business customers, mostly SMEs, materializing very high time and effort savings. To do so, it will operate a business infrastructure that facilitates and reduces the cost of KYC operations by establishing a business network, in the form of a Single-Sign-On (SSO) federation, between KYC providers (Data Providers), their customers from the financial, telecom and e-commerce sector (Data Consumers) and the clients of these industries (Data Subjects). This network will propagate the identity information and the eIDAS authentication token obtained at one node of the network and bundle KYC data with the identity data of Data Subjects.

GRIDS will showcase how digital KYC providers can use eIDAS identity verification to create and maintain a consistent single view of their customers and perform effective and accurate screening.

To achieve this, the Action will build a platform (GRIDS platform) that re-uses the functionality of the eID DSI. The platform will include the Service Provider HUB (SP HUB) that will provide eIDAS authentication functionality and Business Attributes Aggregator (BAA), which will enrich the data obtained from additional sources, such as KYC information resulting in the bundled token (“eIDAS eID + KYC” data facility), which will be further shared with the KYC Data Consumer.

Moreover, to allow for the seamless integration of end-users with KYC services, the Action will develop Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) the BAA and prepare guidelines for end-users to connect with the service.

Our role

We are GRIDS coordinators and we bring to the project our experience in privacy and digital identity through eIDAS identity verification acquired in previous research projects such as STORK. Addtionally we lead the communication activities and actively collaborate in the sustainbility and exploitation actions.
